DEVELOPMENT WORK
When designing I wanted to go into the direction of what was said to be Glenn Murcutt’s influence, New Guinea huts. So I decided to research huts to help me create a design for the architect and graphic design, alongside also getting ideas from Glenn Murcutt’s edifice Marie Short Farmhouse.
I would take one image of a hut and just get ideas from it. I tried to keep Murcutt’s beam and post technique, also I would also like to stick to the materials of congregated iron and timber, though it could change for the roof.
Here I also used a straw sort of roof, If I will do that I potentially would add another material underneath so that the roof will have an illusion of a straw roof.
More designs…
From these pages of designs I chose two that I preferred the most. Moreover, I built models and will continue to work on the design.

These models were just shapes (without windows and doors).
Models
Design 1
This is just the roofing element of the building, thought it was interesting on its own. Here’s the shape of the building (a simple box structure)
with a hut- like roof. I didn’t add beam and post, but will add just to make
the design interesting.
Design 2
This is a more unusual design, I wanted the roofing to be interesting so that it would not be a ordinary box structure, I was inspired by Glen Murcutts other work such as ‘Magnet House’ (as shown below) and also of course Marie Short Farmhouse. Will do this roof also in metal and the walls in timber.
To further this design, I will close up the gap that is in design 2 model.
